We Fear The Responsibility
I believe that humans in the silence of their own thoughts,
With themselves,
Will admit the truth.
But will they do anything about it?
It’s not death that I feared. It was life.
Mortality is the excuse to avoiding life,
Because life is so out of our control.
We all know we are going to die.
That’s inevitable.
I don’t think we fear mortality, we think we do.
We fear living, because we are unresolved in our soul.
But to resolve it,
Is too painful.
To resolve it,
Means to live.
Why are we so afraid?
Why are we so afraid of resolving ourselves?
I was afraid that,
If I faced my pain.
If I stopped making you laugh.
If I stopped being an impressive athlete.
If I showed you I was fragmented.
That you wouldn’t like me.
That I wouldn’t belong.
That I would disappoint or hurt your feelings by re-negotiating the relationships.
Our human need to belong,
Suppresses our wounds.
It empowers our fear to not deal.
But in not dealing,
We sacrifice belonging to ourselves.
Which is the truest form of belonging, anyways.
We sacrifice disappointing ourselves.
And we know it.
We fear the responsibility living truly requires to actually live.
